No Man’s Land (2021)
1 h 5 min / immersive film and sound installation / original title: De mens in Niemandsland
In a Dutch former church, Leonard Peters creates a video installation with triptych landscape film, which he accompanies live with piano and vocals. “No Man's Land” is a land depicted in image and sound, a land of here and nowhere, a land of fantasy and reality. With poetry by Finnish author Aila Meriluoto. As part of an artistic inquiry into the relationship between man and nature, Leonard hiked from the Belgian border to the southwest coast of Finland to experience the profound silence of the natural world. Filming the landscape with his small camera and collecting over 200 film images, he felt the urge to immerse himself in the view, and become a harmonious part of the landscape, in the incredible silence of nature.
